An archaeological excavation in the old town of Tavira.
This is thought to be the medieval residence of the Corte-Real family who lived here between 1400-1500 and were involved in Portuguese maritime explorations.
Also found on this site is a Phoenician wall from the 8th century B.C.
Turdetanian layers including an ox-hide shaped altar from the 4th century B.C. and Islamic residential structures dating from 1100 - 1200.
