The re-created Elizabethan Garden with the ruins of the Great Hall and Strong Tower in the background.
This garden was originally established in 1575 by Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester to woo Queen Elizabeth 1.
Much of the castle was destroyed in the 1650s during the English Civil War and in later times the gatehouse was converted to a family home.
